About Maria
Maria Showell was born in Washington, D.C. and resides in Maryland. In May 2024, she left her corporate career to follow her passion for storytelling, writing contemporary women’s fiction about love, betrayal, resilience, redemption, and second chances.
She is the author of The Reckoning and Controlled Burn, with the highly anticipated Scared to Love arriving in November 2026, followed by its sequel, Reason to Love, in December 2026.
Her creativity doesn’t end with the final chapter. Through her signature Chapters & Wicks candle collection... every story has a spark, every chapter has a purpose... she brings storytelling beyond the written word, pairing books with fragrance and atmosphere for the perfect literary escape.
